  1. To save thickness. I use a cut away stabilizer as the backing for the design instead of felt or vinyl. I float vinyl on top of tear away and tape the cut way to the back of the tear away. This keeps the thickness down so you can still use regular price KAM snaps.

    Also on a side note you can use landscape fabric (weed block, etc.) as well. It is a non-woven fabric that cuts easily and does not fray. It is the same type of material as OlyFun. Not my original idea, I saw CleaverDogDesigns do this on YouTube “Machine Embroidery Stabilizer Hack”. There is also white landscape fabric (used to cover seedlings to prevent frost damage) that is similar and also much cheaper and wider although maybe a little thinner. I got mine at Rural King.
